The Old Lodge Hotel
Old Maltongate
Malton
Tel: 01653 690570
from £35 to £45.00
Malton House and its Gatehouse ( the Lodge ) were built by the Grandson of Ralph Eure in 1604. Lord Eure had no direct heirs and the house was left in 1637 to his nieces who squabbled over ownership. The Sheriff of Yorkshire therefore decreed that the house be dismantled stone by stone and then divided between the two leaving only the Gatehouse and surrounding walls. Since then the Lodge, as it is now known, has seen many uses from Linen House, Military Hospital and private residences to the hotel by which it is known today.
