Lol Coxhill in a skip Saturday 6 May - Leeds City Art Gallery Times: 12noon, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm (APPROX. 25 MINUTES EACH) Lol Coxhill is a world-renowned saxophonist. He will perform in a skip in front of Leeds City Art Galllery on Saturday 6th May. Lol Coxhill in a skip was originally toured to North Yorkshire market towns in November 2004 but for FUSELEEDS will swap the rolling hills of North Yorkshire for a backdrop of Henry Moore and the delights of Leeds city centre on a Saturday afternoon. "For a good few decades his unmistakable soprano saxophone has appeared in the unlikeliest places, but whether busking under Hungerford Bridge or playing the Purcell Rooms, he's consistently tapped into the sound of surprise with good humour and an admirable lack of pretension." BBC Jazz Review Concept: Simon Thackray Lol Coxhill in a skip is the brainchild of Simon Thackray - the artist and promoter behind Yorkshire's famous micro-venue The Shed. Simon's other creations include the Yorkshire Pudding Boat Race, the Fish and Chip van tour, and HAT (the performance of words, music and knitting starring Ian McMillan and Billy Jenkins). "For the past 14 years, The Shed, near the market town of Malton, has been responsible for some of the smallest and most inspired art events in the country. Thackray has devised shows involving knitting, bingo and an Elvis bus tour. But his latest scheme is rubbish." Alfred Hickling, Guardian
