The Shed Poetry Prize 2011

The Shed Poetry Prize 2011 has been postponed until further notice.

The Shed announces the The Shed Poetry Prize 2011 with a sponsored top prize of £1,000 (and many other prizes) in the UK’s most original poetry incubus. Building on 18 years of commitment to serious poetry, working with renowned poets from Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy to Simon Armitage, Bob Cobbing, Ian Duhig, Matt Harvey, Adrian Henri, Jackie Kay, Liz Lochhead, Pete Morgan, Les Murray and Brian Patten, The Shed has developed an enviable reputation for poetic excellence.

The spirit of poetry at The Shed can be traced back to the early Middle Ages when Bragi, the Danish God of Poetry breathed life into a local settlement that became Brawby – the home of The Shed. More recently The Shed has been the venue of choice for many radio broadcasts – for Radio Four amongst others. As Ian McMillan wrote:

‘Only two man-made things can be seen from space
The Great Wall of China, and this:
An old Shed door and a packed out place
Of community, cultural, artistic bliss…’

The Shed Poetry Prize 2011 has been postponed until further notice.
